For more than 60 years, the Charles Darwin Foundation has provided unique scientific solutions for the conservation of the Galapagos Islands.
In this place you will find the “Fausto Llerena” Breeding Center where you can observe giant tortoises of different sizes, ages and from different islands of the Galapagos archipelago.

This is a site located on the west side of Academia Bay, which, as its name implies, this place is a natural crevice where sea water seeps forming pools of crystal clear water. Ideal for swimming, sunbathing and snorkelling
How to get?
You can walk from Hotel Cucuve to the passenger dock located on the boardwalk, from where you must take an aqua taxi and cross to Punta Estrada, once there, you will walk approximately 30 minutes on a path of volcanic stones and salt flats until you reach the cracks.
Estimated visit time: 2-3 hours.

Tortuga Bay is a beautiful white sandy beach, named for being a nesting site for the green sea turttle, it is considered by many to be the most beautiful of the islands. It’s the perfect place to swim, relax, kayak, snorkel, and even surf.
How to get?
BY BOAT
You can walk from Hotel Cucuve to the passenger dock located on the boardwalk, from where you must buy tickets for the departure by boats to Tortuga Bay.
Boat hours:
09H00 * and 14H00 * to Tortuga Bay
12H00 * and 17H00 * to Puerto Ayora
* Hours may vary according to demand.
Travel time by boat: 25 min.
Cost: USD 10 per person
The hotel is located on the street that leads to the entrance of the trail that will take you to Tortuga Bay, you must exit and walk straight to the left.
Before arriving at the control booth, there is a bicycle parking lot, once in the booth, you must proceed to register with the park ranger present in that place.
You will find vegetation from the lower part of the transition zone, the dry zone and the coastal zone. An endemic plant (Sesuvium portulacastrum) grows in the dunes in the upper part of the beach that helps stabilize the sandy areas. please stay away from the dunes, these are sea turtle nesting sites.
